If you’re a sports fan, you’re probably aware that Olympian Patrick Reed is dating US Women’s team gold medalist, Morgan Pressel; they’ve been together since 2013 and recently announced they’re engaged. So, how did that happen? It turns out Reed saw Pressel’s sister, Hannah, at a concert and thought she was cute, so he messaged her on Facebook, and the rest is history. Patrick Reed has been married to his wife Justine for nearly nine years, but the PGA Tour star would never have pursued her if he had received a simple message from a college date ten years ago. When he was a student at the University of Georgia, Reed asked his sister Justine out. Later that night, he texted her to make sure she was home, but she didn’t answer. Reid still wanted to make sure she was okay, so he sent Justine a message on Facebook to confirm that she had come home. Much to the chagrin of the nine-time Tour winner, she confirmed that her sister is doing well, but that there will be no second date. A few years later, Reid married Justine and turned that simple Facebook post into the best decision of his life.
Patrick Reed owes his PGA Tour career to his wife Justine

Cox/Getty Images COMPARED TO: Rory McIlroy met his wife, Erica Stoll, through the most embarrassing moment of his golf career Reed is one of the biggest stars on the PGA Tour today, but he hasn’t had an easy time getting there. In 2012, before Reed even had his PGA Tour card, his then-fiancee drove him to several Monday qualifiers across the country as he pursued his professional golf dream. In fact, she has been a support to him from the beginning. Patrick talked about those early days and the support Justine gave him in a recent interview with Max Adler of Golf Digest. They were tough, Reid admitted. We were road warriors and drove Justin’s Lexus IS 250 sedan across the country, just like the old days, to get to qualifying on Monday. I had bats and other clothes. She had a bag full of makeup, a bag full of hair products, 50 pairs of shoes….. Funny that she tried to adjust the seat to sleep in while she drove all night so I could play golf. On Monday of that year, on the PGA Tour, we went 6 for 8. The fact that she put her dreams aside to support me is something I will never forget. One day I hope to be half like her.
Patrick and Justine have been married for almost nine years
. COMPARED TO: Rickie Fowler’s career is so bad that the PGA had to drop some rules to allow him to compete in the nextmajor championships. Patrick and Justine had big plans for her golf career as they traveled the country and competed in qualifying tournaments on Monday, but they had even bigger plans for their personal lives together. The couple married in December 2012. However, the marriage did not immediately change their professional relationship. Justine has remained by Patrick’s side throughout his first two years of regular play on the PGA Tour, and was even by his side during his first career victory at the 2013 Wyndham Championship. Patrick eventually traded Justine for her brother, Kessler Karain, when she first got pregnant in 2014. His brother-in-law has been his caddie ever since.
The best decision of Reed’s life was corresponding with his girlfriend’s sister via Facebook
COMPARED TO: Former US President used mind games and aliens to beat Jordan Spieth in a golf match Justine has been Patrick’s biggest supporter and advocate during his professional golf career, but they never would have gotten together if Patrick hadn’t been abandoned by his sister in college. Patrick recently told Golf Digest this funny story. I was a freshman at the University of Georgia and her younger sister, Chris, went to LSU. Kris came to visit, we had a date, and I texted her to confirm she was home. No answer, Reid said. So I contacted Justine on Facebook, who confirmed that her sister was back and honestly explained why it probably wouldn’t work. So I began communicating with Justine, whom I discovered to be an incredibly motivated person who was getting a double degree while working as a nurse. We kept in touch for a few years and then we started going out. Best decision I ever made. Do you think Chris will regret not answering her?
