2022 US Open odds are out, and the best bets to win will be a battle of old vs. new blood. The defending champion Rafael Nadal has made it his mission to knock off Roger Federer in order to get passed Serena Williams for the number one ranking spot on clay courts. But there might be another challenger that no one is expecting:

I’m not here to discuss the draining competition between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour, which is becoming wider by the day. The world’s top golfers are getting ready to take on the most difficult test in the sport at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, during U.S. Open week, and there is money to be made.
Let’s attempt to discover some winners instead of getting caught up in the turmoil.
Absolute options to aim for

Right now, Jon Rahm is the best golf ball driver in the whole world. There simply isn’t a close second to the Spaniard in terms of strokes gained off the tee and overall driving this season on the Tour.
Rahm also leads the Tour in the percentage of greens in regulation (72.34%), which is crucial at The Country Club due to its small greens and dangerous rough around them. Rahm showed his mental toughness has improved greatly since his hot-headed days by winning the U.S. Open last year. I’ll take a shot at 15-1 here since I believe he ought to be the betting favorite over Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas.
+3200 Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa will undoubtedly hit fairways and greens all week, as is expected. He continues to be at the top of the planet Earth’s elite group of ball strikers. But woof, that putter.
In more over half of his calculated rounds this season, including four consecutive, Morikawa has suffered stroke-putting losses. As poor as his recent greens play has been, he just has to see a few putts go in early in the competition to snap out of it and have a strong putting week. For a player of Morikawa’s caliber on a course that ought to play right into his strengths, this 32-1 price is simply too high. We simply want him to stop throwing up all over the greens as he has been doing for the past two months.

Predictions for the 2022 U.S. Open

Top-40 finish +145 for Brian Harman
Say what? Harman, Brian The person who is just 5’7″ tall and 150 pounds when wet? You’re putting your money on him to perform well at a lengthy, taxing U.S. Open venue?
Of course. Sure, I am.
You may find it strange given that, at least on paper, Harman’s game doesn’t scream success at the U.S. Open, yet he excels on the most difficult courses. The left-hander has placed T19, T38, T36, and T2 in his previous four U.S. Open outings. The majority of those courses also had lengthier playing times than The Country Club will have this week.
Harman regularly keeps the ball in the short grass despite having a short tee shot (12th on Tour in driving accuracy). Additionally, he has six top-40 finishes in his previous eight appearances, which is a bit of a hot run. To redeem this ticket, let’s make it seven out of his last nine.
Top-20 finish for Cameron Young: +180
In his brief (no pun intended) career, Cameron Young has participated in two U.S. Opens, but this season, he is an entirely different player. The Wake Forest graduate has made 18 starts this season and has five top-three results, including his best major performance (T3) at the PGA Championship last month.
Young has had a fantastic short game over the last two months, and he can bomb it off the tee with ease. His game is ideal for a high finish here, but I don’t trust him to claim his first PGA Tour victory at a U.S. Open.
Top-10 finish for Tony Finau: +335
Tony Finau had a rough start to the year, but he is now beginning to resemble the guy you might expect to finish in the top 10 in almost every competition. The American has improved his field strokes in each of his previous eight outings, and he has improved his strokes in every category for three consecutive starts.
I’m prepared to wager that Finau, who has two top-10 finishes in his previous four U.S. Open appearances, can repeat given his excellent recent play.
