After winning the PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open, Collin Morikawa was asked about his friendship with Tiger Woods. The 19-year old Texan has had a great start to his career and is determined to win more majors in the future.

“Where is Tiger Woods Now?” is a question that has been asked by many people over the years. The answer, however, might surprise you. Read more in detail here: where is tiger woods now.

Collin Morikawa Still Can't Believe He's Friends With Tiger Woods: 'That's the Coolest Thing'

Like most other golfers his age, Collin Morikawa grew up idolizing Tiger Woods. He had always hoped to play alongside Woods on the PGA Tour as he grew up, and when he went pro in 2019, he was able to achieve exactly that.

After a few years, Morikawa still can’t believe he works with Woods, and even more so that he can name the greatest golfer of all time his buddy.

Collin Morikawa will never forget his first encounter with Tiger Woods.

Morikawa has five PGA Tour victories and one major tournament under his belt, but playing alongside Tiger for the first time remains one of the highlights of his short career.

At a recent interview with CNN’s Becky Anderson, Morikawa spoke about the first time he was partnered with Woods in the Farmer Insurance Open in 2020.

“I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’” ‘This is strange,’ he remarked. “‘I know he’s trying to defeat me, and I’m trying to beat him, too.’ However, that made it much more soothing, and you could see his human side.

“I guess what I’ve found is that we’re not just golfers, and I think everyone thinks that, but there’s so much more under the layers of every single person out here, and it’s been amazing to get to know these folks as genuine beings.”

Over the past five years, Morikawa has had the good fortune of getting to know Woods and even developing a relationship with him.

“It’s fantastic to have a friendship” with Tiger, says Morikawa.

Morikawa had no idea he’d be playing professional golf alongside Woods, and even less so that he’d become friends with his hero. The reigning Open Championship champion reflected on what Tiger’s relationship meant to him in an interview with CNN.

“It’s incredible to have a relationship with him, to know him, to speak to him, and the nicest part about it is that he’s grown this game like no one else,” Morikawa added. “There are just a few athletes in the world that have done that to their particular sport that I can think of, and that truly anybody can think of.” So, of course, that’s someone I’m going to look up to.”

He’s still looking up to his pal.

We don’t know whether Woods will ever play on the PGA Tour again, but his influence on the game cannot be overstated. Morikawa understands this better than anybody else.

“I believe that when you mention Tiger Woods to someone who doesn’t know anything about golf, they understand that he symbolizes golf and the sport of golf,” Morikawa said. “What he’s done for this game, how he’s altered the progression of not only the physical side, but the cerebral part, and how he’s really grown the game all over the globe.” That’s someone I want to be like.”
