Derek Carr is in a tough spot. The quarterback has a history of disgruntled teams, and his name has been circulating around the rumor mill for months. Raiders owner Mark Davis refused to give up on Carr, and that’s about the only thing that stopped Carr from trying to get out of town prior to the start of the NFL Draft. A trade to the Las Vegas Raiders could be a win-win situation for both sides. Carr will be playing for the only NFL team he’s ever known, and the Raiders could finally make the jump to a new era of football in Sin City.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is not going to play after the NFL season is over, because he has decided that he is going to go into the Hollywood film industry. Carr’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has made the announcement, saying that Carr has already made a deal with a well-known director to star in the “Terminator Genisys” sequel.

Being caught up in a rumor about a trade or even a trade transaction is part of the business of professional sports. The players may not like it, but that’s one of the reasons they are so well compensated. Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr hates that idea more than anyone, it seems. Carr loves being a Raider and is very attached to the franchise. He says he’d rather not play football at all than stop being a Raider. That could be a problem, as Carr is rumored to be sold before the 2021 NFL season.

Derek Carr is mentioned for a swap in 2021

Matt Stafford, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz and Sam Darnold were traded after last season. Other big names like Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Foles and of course Aaron Rodgers have also been in the rumors to be traded. The rumors about Aaron Rodgers were specifically about Carr. There is speculation that one of the reasons Rogers wants to leave Green Bay is to get a more attractive house. It’s about moving or getting closer to California, where his fiancée, actress Shailene Woodley, lives. If so, the possible destinations for Rodgers are limited to the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams, the San Francisco 49ers and possibly the Arizona Cardinals and Raiders. Justin Herbert, Stafford, Trey Lance/Garopolo, and Kyler Murray, respectively, are the current QBs on those teams. None of these franchises will be interested in Rodgers because of the talent and potential of the current quarterbacks or what the team has already given up to get them. That leaves the Raiders, and any trade of Rodgers to Vegas would undoubtedly result in a move for Carr. Most professional athletes play for teams far from their hometown, teams they didn’t care about as kids. That’s not the case with Carr. The former Fresno State quarterback hails from California’s Central Valley and is a self-proclaimed lifelong fan of the Raiders. When Carr talked about the possibility of his favorite team selling him, he said he didn’t want to think about that and, if it happened, he wouldn’t accept it. He recently told reporters, according to USA Today: I always want more, I always have more, and I want to do it here. I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else. I’ve said it time and time again, I’d probably quit football if I had to play for someone else. I’ve been a Raider all my life. I’m going to support a team for the rest of my life. It’s the Raiders. Carr is so committed to the Raiders that he wants to stay whether the team wins or not. Other people want to do other things, and that’s fine, Carr continued. But I’d rather go down with the ship if I have to.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden is slowly improving his team, but Carr isn’t the problem

Everyone knows how attached I am to the Raiders [fanbase], but they are REALLY wrong if they always criticize Derek Carr.@LRiddickESPN find out what the real problem is in Las Vegas pic.twitter.com/VSSQiZ3iro – NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) June 15, 2021 Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden has signed on for a second stint as head coach of the Raiders in 2018, 10 years after he last coached an NFL game. The organization offered the Monday Night Football announcer a 10-year, $100 million contract. In Gruden’s fourth season, the team has steadily improved, but not dramatically. The team went from 4-12 to 7-9 and 8-8 under an offensive minded head coach. Gruden and Raiders fans seem to believe that finding a new player to replace Derek Carr and selecting players at the offensive position is the answer to making the playoffs. However, this may not be the case. Over the past two seasons, Oakland/Las Vegas ranked in the top three in the NFL in yards scored. However, in each of Gruden’s three seasons, the defense finished in the bottom half of the league in terms of passing offenses. The coach’s indifference to the defense was evident from the moment he returned to the Raiders. One of his first moves was a trade for All-Pro defenseman Kahlil Mack. If the Raiders want to get better, Gruden and the organization need to spend less time dumping their dedicated QB and more time building a balanced football team that can be successful in all phases of the game.
