A recent update to FFXIV, Square Enix’s massively multiplayer online game for PS4 and PC, has caused an issue with players who were unable to obtain character data. The reason is that the old way of obtaining character data was deprecated and all user-created characters will be wiped when a new version comes out in December.
The “ffxiv can t find character data” is an error that occurs when you try to log into the game. The issue typically means that your account has been hacked or deleted.
Every single FFXIV player has seen a message informing them that the game is unable to get character data, and it’s caused us all pause at some time. Fortunately, even with the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, this problem is minor.
