Joe Thomas has sent the internet into a frenzy with his comments about losing to the Chiefs in the NFL playoff game. He tweeted “Congratulations Pittsburgh, you won today’s participation trophy” in reference to Steelers’ fans who were devastated by their team’s defeat.
The “browns playoffs” is a phrase that has been used in sports to describe a team that does not make the playoffs. Joe Thomas, a former Brown, sparked outrage after using the term during his post-game interview.
The rivalry between the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North continues. Pittsburgh was eliminated from the NFL playoffs in the Wild Card Round by the Kansas City Chiefs, putting an end to the season. Joe Thomas, a former Browns offensive lineman, made fun of the Steelers after the game, which did not go down well in Terrible Towel nation.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were huge underdogs in their wild-card showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, as Ben Roethlisberger so eloquently said.
Despite the discrepancy, Pittsburgh came out strong from the start. Until the second quarter, the Steelers were in excellent condition. Mike Tomlin’s team took the lead right away with a defensive touchdown. Following that, Patrick Mahomes and his teammates began to pile it on.
The Chiefs went on to win 42-21, essentially ending the Steelers’ season in 2021 (and, most likely, Ben Roethlisberger’s career).
Former Cleveland Browns star Joe Thomas took to Twitter to troll the Steelers and their fans after the tough playoff loss.
“Congratulations on your participation award in the playoffs,” Thomas replied.
Clearly, the 10-time Pro Bowler still has a grudge against the Browns’ AFC North opponents, particularly after they effectively ruined the Browns’ season.
The former Browns Pro Bowler was never a part of a playoff team.
Joe Thomas’ Twitter retweet was hilarious. However, the Cleveland Browns legend may have unintentionally opened a bag of worms.
After sending the tweet, Pittsburgh Steelers fans flooded Thomas’ mentions to shred his comments. Even former Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel fired a shot back at the Pro Bowl offensive tackle.
“Did you ever acquire one of those?” says the narrator. Keisel was the one who inquired. “No.”
Thomas spent his whole NFL career with the Browns. He has, however, never won a playoff game, much alone reached the playoffs.
For Cleveland, the Wisconsin product was a rock. He didn’t miss a start in ten straight seasons. With ten Pro Bowl choices and six All-Pro selections under his belt, Thomas’ performance speaks for itself. However, it didn’t stop the Steelers fans from applauding him.
Thomas seemed to like getting under people’s skin, and he even admitted to never making the playoffs.
He remarked, “I’m still waiting for this to sting.” “Not yet,” she says. You either win the Super Bowl or you don’t in the NFL. There isn’t a middle ground.”
Joe Thomas may have stepped into a fire, but he isn’t taking himself too seriously.
After a disastrous 2021 season, Cleveland has larger fish to fry.
Joe Thomas’ pursuit of the Steelers is unsurprising. The NFL Network commentator created a name for himself by playing tough football twice a year against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, as a Cleveland Browns fan, he should be thinking about more essential things.
The Browns finished 2020 with an 11-5 record, their best since 1994. Cleveland started the 2021 season with even bigger hopes after acquiring additional firepower in the summer.
Kevin Stefanski’s team seemed to be an AFC title contender. Cleveland, on the other hand, fell short of the great expectations. The Browns concluded with an 8-9 record, and they approach the offseason with a number of unanswered concerns.
Throughout the summer, Baker Mayfield will be the most talked-about player on the club. Due to injuries and inconsistency, the 2018 No. 1 overall selection underperformed in 2021. He’s nearing the end of his rookie contract. Mayfield will need to perform better in 2022 if he wants a long-term deal.
In 2021, the Steelers were not a very excellent football team, but they were good enough to sweep the Browns. Joe Thomas’ remarks were made in good humor, but Cleveland’s playoff record doesn’t offer him much to stand on.
