The Yankees have been struggling this month, causing the team to fall behind in the playoff race. New York will likely not pay Aaron Judge his $13 million option for 2020 and could even release him outright before next season. The superstar slugger has a strained relationship with manager Aaron Boone and is said to be considering leaving Big Apple as soon as next year.,

The “aaron judge age” is a warning that Gary Sheffield has given to Aaron Judge about leaving the Yankees.

Aaron Judge, the standout outfielder for the New York Yankees, is just a few months away from possibly reaching free agency, but Sheffield, Gary doesn’t expect him to depart the Bronx anytime soon.

However, given the three-time All-poor Star’s start to the 2022 season, we have a hunch the Yankees and Sheffield are experiencing similar emotions right now.

Judge opened his sixth MLB season with nine home runs in his first 23 games after failing to strike an agreement with the Yankees before to Opening Day. The 6-foot-7, 282-pound slugger is in good shape, playing Gold Glove-caliber defense, and putting himself in position to get a big deal next summer.

Sheffield believes the Yankees are the club that should sign the 2017 Home Run Derby winner to such a big contract.

Sheffield told Ryan Gaydos of Fox News Digital, “I believe that’s the right place for him to be in his circumstance.” “Always fleeing isn’t the solution. On the other hand, the grass isn’t always greener on the opposite side.”

Sheffield, who was a member of the Yankees from 2004 to 2006, knows the significance of the local hero. He spent his Yankees years with Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, and Mariano Rivera, all of whom had their numbers retired after playing for the Bronx Bombers for their whole careers.

Sheffield, a nine-time All-Star, also played alongside three baseball legends: Robin Yount, Tony Gwynn, and Chipper Jones, all of whom played entirely for one club. Could you envision Gwynn, the best player in the history of the San Diego Padres, playing for the Baltimore Orioles? What if Jones, an Atlanta Braves legend, played his last season with the Miami Marlins?

Although it’s too soon to predict if Judge will join those three in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Sheffield believes Judge has already established himself as a player who would look out of place in a different uniform.

“When you think of the Yankees, you think of Aaron Judge in his instance.” Aaron Judge isn’t a name that comes to mind when you think of Seattle, Boston, or anyplace else. These people must reach that decision and begin to consider what is best for their long-term future.”

Sheffield, Gary

Sheffield may be speaking from experience, having spent parts of 22 seasons with eight different sides. Spending longer time with a single franchise, in retrospect, could have aided his own Hall of Fame case.

Sheffield will, however, have to wait for the Yankees and Judge to reach an agreement on a new deal. There have been no serious indications in recent months that the two parties would sign a contract extension for the 2022 season.
