Woods got the chance to take the plunge again when NBC Sports asked him to join the broadcast team for its 121st season. U.S. Open in Torrey Pines later this month. But when the broadcaster approached Woods to appear on the show, he got a resounding no. Yes, indeed, that’s exactly the line I had in mind, and we all thought it would be good. When he can’t be there, who better to embody him, give him a voice and make him part of the show? But we got a waiver, NBC golf host Dan Hicks said Wednesday during a conference call with reporters, according to Golf Digest. He didn’t want to do it, and I completely understand his situation. There’s a lot going on in his world right now. Part of Tiger always says he doesn’t want to become an afterthought, an event, that we need to focus on what’s going on. I think if he says yes to something, it will become an endless parade of requests and you will have to start saying no to everyone.
