The Seattle Seahawks are on a roll. The defending Super Bowl champions are 5-0, having won all five games by an average score of 26-15. This has led many to wonder whether they have the best team in the NFL—and that’s a pretty good question, considering the Seahawks’ roster is loaded with talent. But even if you don’t feel the Seahawks are the best team in the NFL right now, you have to respect how hard they’ve played this season.

Upon being selected by the Detroit Lions as their No. 1 pick overall in a draft plagued by off-field trouble, quarterback Matthew Stafford has been ridiculed mercilessly. The general consensus is that he has not done enough to justify his selection as the top pick in the NFL draft, and that he will fail to live up to expectations.

A few years ago, Carson Wentz had football fans saying he could be the NFL’s next great quarterback. Wentz was the center of many of their jokes last season, as his terrible play as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles amazed fans around the world. But now that Wentz has been traded to the Indianapolis Colts, it looks like the quarterback will once again be praised rather than ridiculed.

What did he do to achieve this goal? According to the quarterback guru, who has spent a lot of time with Wentz lately, his work this offseason could help him and the Colts have a great year.

Adam Dedo is a quarterback guru who has worked with many top quarterbacks such as Matt Ryan and Dak Prescott.

Wentz began working with him in 2017 when he was still playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The great thing about Carson was that he was big and strong, but he had muscle. As a result, he was sometimes in pain, Dedo said, according to SI.

According to Sports Illustrated, the way Wentz set up his body and abused the lower half of his body caused him to put a lot of pressure on his arm. To ease the pain, Dedo worked to help Wentz make his whole body work for him as a passer.

We helped him better understand how to be more efficient, use his body properly and understand what works for him, Dedo said, according to Sports Illustrated. After that, many of the painful sensations he had been experiencing disappeared.

Wentz then took that specific advice – and other advice he had received while working with Dedo – and started working with it. He was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in 2017, earning Pro Bowl honors with 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in 13 games.

Now, with the Colts, Wentz hopes to play at that level again.

Colts quarterback worked with Dedo in the offseason

Carson Wentz has been working tirelessly with Adam Dedo since February. Dedo will keep in touch with Wentz throughout the season to make sure he doesn’t fall back into his bad habits.

After trading with the Colts, Wentz went back to work with Dedo, the man who played a big role in his breakout year in 2017.

The move comes after Wentz had the worst season of his career with the Eagles in 2020. In just 12 games, he has amassed 2,620 yards, 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, leading the NFL.

It was the most important and difficult work he ever did with me. He didn’t flinch for a minute, Dedo said, according to Sports Illustrated. I have to make sure he takes breaks and gets his body in order. I think he has a chance to be more effective this year.

Wentz and Dedo have been working together since February, and as Zach Hicks of Sports Illustrated noted, Wentz doesn’t just seem happy to be away from the Eagles; he seems more focused on playing well for the Colts.

(He) is motivated to change the opinion that has been formed about him and his abilities. Mentally, I’m just in a much better place, Dedo said, according to SI. He is confident in what he does and where he is. He knows he has no more excuses, and he is in a place where he can go and succeed.

He continued: He worked like crazy, and I’m very happy for him. I think this year is going to be a hell of a year for him and the Colts.

Carson Wentz has what it takes to have a special year with the Colts

If Wentz’ work with Dedo pays off, he could have a big year next season. He has a much better chance of succeeding at Indy than Philadelphia in 2020.

Not only do the Colts have good weapons with Michael Pittman Jr. and T.Y. Hilton, but also one of the best offensive lines in football having just added left guard Eric Fisher. Indy’s success in 2020 was due to their running game though, as they had two talented running backs in Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Former 1,000-yard rusher Marlon Mack returns to them in 2021, so they now have three great defenders.

Indianapolis also has one of the best defenses in the NFL with guys like Darius Leonard and DeForest Buckner.

Wentz has a lot to prove in 2021. Many expect it to fail again. But if he can continue the work he’s done with Dedo – as he did in 2017 – the Colts could have an incredible year and become one of the top contenders in the AFC.
