It’s possible that the Giants will win the World Series. It’s possible that the Mets will win the NL East. It’s possible that the Red Sox will win the AL East. It’s possible that both the Red Sox and the Mets will finish with 100 wins. It’s also possible that the Giants will win the World Series.

While I’m not a believer in just one “true” explanation for why the Cubs won last season’s World Series, I do think that one of the best parts of the Cubs’ success was that the team succeeded despite losing their best player, shortstop Addison Russell, during the regular season. Russell’s absence allowed Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and the rest of the lineup to have a huge breakout performance, and, without the defensive excellence of Russell and a slow start by the team’s pitching staff, the Cubs might not have won the World Series.

Charles Barkley’s latest bold statement is about Tom Brady and Michael Jordan, because of course it is.

Throughout his career, Barkley has never hidden what he really thinks, whether it’s a current event or his opinion on the state of basketball. Today the legendary striker took part in a debate about the greatest sportsman of all time.

Charles Barkley thinks Tom Brady is the best athlete of all time

Barkley deserves praise for being a basketball legend, but he’s willing to consider the greatest man in any other sport. During a recent appearance on Peacock’s Brother From Another , Barkley said he would have preferred Brady to a Jordan or LeBron James.

And I don’t think it’s even close, Barkley confirms.

Barkley explained that Brady’s seven Super Bowls as a starting quarterback in a league where there is no room for error – he called every week an NFL Game 7 – shows the three-time MVP.

Like in the NBA, if you have Michael Jordan, [Kareem Abdul-Jabbar] or LeBron, you have a better player. It’s a lot easier to win those four games in a series of seven, [but in the] NFL playoffs every game is a Game 7. And I don’t even know which is more ridiculous: the fact that he’s won seven Super Bowls [or] that he’s played in 10. I am: You’re laughing at me. 10. … And, as I said, he won seven but played in ten.

Charles Barkley

Every year it gets harder and harder to argue that Brady is not the best quarterback in NFL history. But is he the most successful athlete of all time? Barkley illustrated how complex this issue and conversation is.

The greatest sportsman of all time is an extremely difficult question

The problem with the controversy over the greatest sportsman of all time is precisely what lies behind the title. What determines who becomes the greatest or even the most successful athlete?

Residents of the US may feel compelled to vote for Brady or Jordan because of their careers in the country’s most popular sport. But is it fair to compare Brady’s success as a quarterback to that of Rafael Nadal in tennis or Usain Bolt in the Olympics?

Even the most successful conversation is a difficult one. Barkley’s right: Seven Super Bowl rings for Brady is an incredible accomplishment in a league where one loss can derail an entire season. What does this have to do with Tiger Woods winning 15 major golf championships?

Cultural barriers make these debates incredibly difficult. Football fans might even argue that Jerry Rice is more deserving of the GOAT title because he is the best receiver in league history and played in an era when defenders had it much better.

When it comes to American football, Brady is simply one of the greatest players of all time. But there is no single answer to the debate over the greatest athlete, and perhaps no answer is even needed.

Barkley has high hopes for Brady and the Buccaneers in 2021

Although Barkley said he felt Brady should have retired after winning Super Bowl 55 earlier this year, the NBA legend isn’t complaining about the seven-time champion playing another season.

Speaking toBrother From Another, Barkley made it clear that he expects big things from Brady and the Buccaneers in 2021. The team hasn’t won a Super Bowl since Brady and the Patriots did after the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

They’re favored, Barkley. They brought them all back.

Barkley jumped onto the scaffolding at just the right moment. The Buccaneers open the 2021 NFL season on Thursday the 9th. In September, against Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. Don’t be surprised if the NBC cameras see Barkley sitting in a luxury suite that night, wearing an expensive Brady sweater.
