I have not completely ruled that out but I am intrigued by the idea of him playing a role on this team. I don’t know if he will be a starting outfielder, but his potential is as high as any player in the organization.

A few weeks ago I was asked to write a blog post about basketball, since the world of social media is forever abuzz with college basketball. I immediately thought of the San Antonio Spurs, the most successful basketball franchise in the history of the NBA.

The Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians are two teams that have not had great seasons. However, both are solid teams that will likely both be in the playoffs next year. The Indians have the best record in baseball, and the Cubs are in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Philip Rivers announced his retirement from the NFL in January 2021. Following his team’s early playoff elimination, the 17-year veteran put up his cleats after an outstanding but ultimately sad season with the Indianapolis Colts. Rivers’ last season was everything from terrible, as he guided the Colts to an 11-5 record and passed for over 4,000 yards. However, at 39 years old, the Alabama native was clearly running out of steam.

Since Rivers is a dedicated family guy and the father of nine children, it’s fair to assume he has more urgent concerns.

Rivers, on the other hand, hasn’t completely ruled out a comeback to the NFL. Despite the fact that he is presently employed as a high school football coach, he said unequivocally that he has not ruled out the possibility of playing professional football in 2021.

Rivers is allegedly considering a comeback to the NFL this season.

I spent the first part of the day with Philip Rivers, who assured me that, although he’s now focused on teaching high school football, he’s not ruling out the possibility of returning for a late-season stay if an NFL club needs him.

As unbelievable as it may seem, the NFL is unquestionably operating in an age dominated by older quarterbacks. At the age of 43, Tom Brady won his eighth Super Bowl (despite playing on a torn MCL), and Aaron Rodgers, 37, is coming off an MVP-winning season. While it’s unfair to compare Rivers to two of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, he’s no slouch by any stretch of the imagination.

Rivers hasn’t passed for less than 4,000 yards since 2012, and from 2016 to 2018, he was a three-time Pro Bowler.

Rivers is clearly not ready to play anytime soon, but it’s difficult to dismiss the idea of him stepping in and providing a QB-needy club a lift late in the season. Many NFL teams have lost confidence in their current starter, and injuries are an unavoidable part of professional football.

As absurd as it may seem in August, a market developing for a soon-to-be 40-year-old Rivers midway through the regular season isn’t entirely out of the question. Baseball pitchers often use this strategy, waiting until a playoff-caliber club suffers a significant injury late in the season.

If a great quarterback is hurt this season, Philip Rivers might step in.

Philip Rivers will be contacted via phone. Every contender that loses its starting quarterback late in the season will go after him. https://t.co/ftuBgjUtNA

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Los Angeles Rams are all constructed around great quarterbacks in their prime. Ben Roethlisberger and Matthew Stafford, in particular, have had many injuries during their careers, and Brady is coming off knee surgery this summer.

It’s difficult to see general managers not checking in with Rivers if any of these guys fall down late in the season with their club in a position to compete for a Super Bowl. A version of Rivers close to what he was in 2020, assuming he’s still working out and in reasonably decent condition, would be an improvement over the majority of backups in the NFL.

Even a club like the Dallas Cowboys, who are already dealing with Dak Prescott’s injury problems, could use some more insurance at quarterback after the departure of Andy Dalton this summer.

A comeback to the Indianapolis Colts is also a possibility.

The Indianapolis Colts are another option worth considering. While they attempted to move ahead by signing Carson Wentz earlier this spring, they have already found themselves in a situation where they, too, might benefit from a starting quarterback for a limited time.

Wentz is expected to miss the opening few games of the season due to foot surgery, which will keep him out for 5-12 weeks.

Although it’s unlikely that Rivers (or the Colts) would contemplate returning to the NFL on such short notice, it’s worth noting nevertheless.

Meanwhile, as the NFL works through training camp, Rivers will continue to teach high school football. If a major starting quarterback goes down with an injury this season, Rivers’ phone is going to start ringing a lot.

Pro Football Reference provided all statistics.

The Colts are the NFL’s Most Cursed Franchise, according to Quenton Nelson’s Brutal Injury.

As far as I’m concerned, the most suitable and fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon is by playing a game of football.. Read more about rule out synonym and let us know what you think.
