There is no doubt that the Indianapolis Colts’ defense gave up too many yards in their Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but Justin Fields was not one to blame. The rookie quarterback for the New York Jets said he was “pissed off” after his debut and wants to improve on his performance next week

The “justin fields start” is a story about Justin Fields who was “pissed off” after his rookie debut. The article discusses the performance that he had, and how it could have been better.

Justin Fields Was 'Pissed off' After Rookie Debut

The Chicago Bears are coming off a perplexing and disappointing NFL season in 2021. Despite trading up in the draft to get top-rated Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, they split the season between experienced quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Nick Foles for portion of the season.

Fields only started 10 games for the Bears, who ended with a 6-11 record. Chicago fired their general manager and head coach after the season, recognizing they needed to start over with Fields at quarterback.

Looking back on the season, it seems Fields was dissatisfied with how his first campaign went.

Fields was given his first career start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 after Andy Dalton sustained an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Needless to say, the game was a total flop. The Bears lost 26-6, as Fields was sacked, hit, and pushed down by a powerful Cleveland pass rush for the most of the day.

Many people were quick to blame former Bears head coach Matt Nagy for an underwhelming game plan after the defeat. He seldom used Fields’ arm power or quickness, preferring instead to hold him in the pocket as the Browns’ pass rushers surrounded him.

Fields’ personal quarterback coach, Ron Val, claims that Fields was equally irritated with the play calling.

“It was terrible,” Veal said. “That day, he suffered a battering.” It was both insane and strange at the same time… I’m sure he was irritated, but I never received an explanation. I didn’t ask since I knew he was upset.”

Last summer, many Bears supporters wanted the club to fire Nagy before picking Fields. Instead, he and previous GM Ryan Pace were given another season to straighten things out. It didn’t turn out the way the Bears’ owners had hoped.

Trading up in the draft to get Fields was a wise move. Fields has the potential to be a franchise quarterback for the Bears. However, Nagy and his staff treated him poorly throughout his first season. Fields was dragged in and out of the lineup all the time, and he was never given the chance to hit long vertical shots down the field, something he was renowned for in college.

Fields completed 58.9% of his passes for 1,870 yards and a 58.9% completion percentage in his debut season. He threw ten interceptions and just seven touchdown passes. That’s not a good sign.

The Bears are experimenting with a fresh coaching approach.

Last season, Fields was “disappointed,” and the Bears were abysmal. This offseason, there was a need for change. As a result, Chicago chose Matt Eberflus, the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, as their next head coach.

Because Eberflus is a defensive-minded HC, it’s unclear how he’ll help Fields develop better game plans.

Fields’ offensive coordinator and quarterback coach will be under a lot of pressure to keep him happy while also showing signs of improvement.
