In Sunday’s high-scoring contest, Durant had 37 points and Irving had 19. Throughout the game, the margin of victory was razor-thin. Irving summed up the gap between the teams in two words while Brooklyn battled to establish any cohesion.
According to NESN, Irving said, “Jayson Tatum.”
Tatum led all scorers with 54 points, including 34 in the second half. He made 16 of 30 shots from the field and 8 of 15 from beyond the arc. On Sunday afternoon, he was the best player on the floor.
“Whenever he has a huge offensive game like that, it loosens up everyone else on the floor,” Irving said afterward. “They start getting easy ones in transition, their defense improves, and you can just feel their energy increase.”
Durant joined in on Tatum’s glowing compliments.
Durant described him as a “excellent shot-maker.” “He’s been banging them down, confidently playing.”
Celtics supporters mocked Irving, but he only had wonderful things to say about the team.

Irving was booed practically every time he touched the basketball during the game. At times, he was also subjected to screams of “Kyrie stinks.”
Irving remarked after the game that he understood what he was getting himself into when he entered TD Garden as an opponent.
Irving told reporters after the game, “I know it’s going to be like that for the rest of my career coming in here.” “It’s like the enraged girlfriend who demands an explanation for why I left but is still waiting for a response to her text.” ‘It was enjoyable while it lasted,’ I say.
