Many are surprised by LeBron’s recent performance, as he has been noticeably disengaged from the game. His newfound focus on basketball is a great sign for Lakers fans and his team.

LeBron James has been known to be a player who is able to flip the switch on his season. In the past, he’s done it by abandoning his latest obsession. This time around, he could do it by getting out of his own way and turning his attention back to basketball. Read more in detail here: la lakers game.

LeBron James Can Flip the Switch on the Lakers Season by Abandoning His Latest Obsession

Much of the recent coverage of LeBron James is on his escalating animosity with the Los Angeles Lakers. But, at the end of the day, the superstar will still put on the Purple and Gold and attempt to turn around a disappointing season.

Among all of LA’s problems this season, James’ overall statistics aren’t one of them. Even at 37 years old, the King is proven to be one of the best players in the NBA. However, as he has become older, he has been forced to change his playing approach, none more so than in his 19th season.

The Lakers are 27-31 heading into the All-Star break, well behind where many anticipated them to be. While LeBron isn’t entirely to blame for the team’s poor record, he is the key to turning things around. However, it would need the eventual Hall of Famer returning to some of his earlier dominating strategies.

LeBron James has grown dependent on three-point shooting.

James can’t say the same thing about the Lakers, who are having a terrible season. The 18-time All-Star is averaging 29.1 points per game, fourth in the NBA, on 52.2 percent shooting entering Friday. His points per game are at their highest level since 2009-10, and his dependence on three-point shooting is a significant reason for it.

LeBron averaged 3.9 three-pointers per game throughout his first 15 seasons. However, after moving to Los Angeles in 2018, the four-time MVP has averaged 6.5 three-pointers per game. For the nine-seed Lakers, the King is attempting a career-high 7.9 triples this season.

Despite not previously being considered a three-point shooter, James currently ranks in the top-20 in three-point attempts. While he has a long way to go to match Stephen Curry’s number of three-point attempts, he is averaging more attempts than real shooters Trae Young, Klay Thompson, and Jaylen Brown.

But this raises the question: is James making enough three-pointers to justify all of his attempts?

LeBron James has made 35.3 percent of his three-point attempts in 41 games. That’s a touch better than his lifetime average of 34.5 percent, but it’s worse than seven of his prior seasons. However, it is greater than 10 players in the top-20 list of attempts.

LeBron James would help the Lakers if he shot less threes and focused more on attacking the rim.

We all know LeBron James is a very gifted basketball player. His physique is one of his assets, as he stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 250 pounds, making him one of the most unstoppable forces in NBA history.

Of course, that’s if he takes advantage of it.

James was a freight train slamming into the basket in his early years. He’s now remade himself as a deft three-point shooter who isn’t quite an excellent three-point shooter. It’s also costing the Lakers games, as the Purple and Gold have lost four of the five games in which the King tried more than ten three-balls.

Instead, James attacking the rim and instigating contact would be beneficial for LeBron and the Lakers. Despite being the NBA’s fourth-leading scorer, the 37-year-old only gets 5.6 free-throw attempts a game. With the exception of James and Nikola Jokic, everyone in the top-10 is averaging 6.0 attempts or more per game. The league’s two top per-game scorers, Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo, are both averaging over 11 free-throw attempts each night.

While LeBron’s percentage from the line this season is at 74.8 percent, it’s still his highest since 2013-14. The more he utilizes his height and muscle in the paint to score and be fouled, and the less he wastes it on fadeaway threes, the better off LA will be in the long run.

While Anthony Davis is on the mend, LeBron should concentrate on dominating the post.

For the remaining few weeks of the season, LA faces an uphill struggle. While Anthony Davis heals from a mid-foot injury sustained just before the All-Star break, the Purple and Gold will be forced to navigate without him.

With the Lakers’ greatest big man sidelined for a few weeks, don’t be shocked if head coach Frank Vogel uses LeBron at the 5, like they did earlier this season when AD’s MCL was injured. If that occurs, James should concentrate his might below the arc rather than beyond it.

From December 19 to January 23, while Davis was out, James averaged 32.5 points per game. He did, however, take 8.0 threes and make less than 3.0 of them, which is higher than Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum. This time, LBJ could be better served by exploiting mismatches down low rather than settle for ineffective shots from 30 feet out.

LeBron’s stats were always excellent enough to lift squads to championship levels throughout his career, no matter how problematic they were. With this year being an exception, it could be worth it to experiment with a few three-pointers to make defenders sweat down low, much like in the old days.

What does it matter if the Lakers lose?
