The Los Angeles Lakers have a new look and it looks pretty good on paper. LeBron James is back to teaming up with Anthony Davis, who has been sidelined since January due to injury. While Davis only scored eight points in his return against the Timberwolves this week, he was able to lead the Boston Celtics past them by scoring 30 points with 11 rebounds of his own.

LeBron James spoke out on why Anthony Davis is so important to the Lakers despite his big man only scoring 8 points in his return from injury. Read more in detail here: when will anthony davis return.

LeBron James Opened Up on Why Anthony Davis Is So Important to Lakers Despite Big Man Only Scoring 8 Points in His Return From Injury

After missing 17 games due to a damaged MCL in his left knee, Los Angeles Lakers big player Anthony Davis returned to the court on January 25 against the Brooklyn Nets, and small forward LeBron James greeted him with open arms. The Lakers beat the Nets 106-96 to climb to 24-24 on the season, thanks to LeBron and Davis. They are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, with a 5-5 record in their last ten games.

Davis had eight points, two rebounds, two assists, and four blocks in 25 minutes against the Nets, shooting 3-of-8 from the floor. Despite AD’s lackluster offensive stats, LeBron explained why the Chicago native is so important to the Lakers after the key victory against the Nets.

“He just makes our team so much more complete,” LeBron James says of Anthony Davis.

Davis made the game’s opening basket in the Lakers-Nets matchup. Despite only scoring eight points, he completed an alley-oop off a fantastic feed from LeBron, who feels his partner in crime performed well in his comeback.

According to ESPN, LeBron remarked of Davis, “He just makes our team so much more complete.” “Defensively, our length, our ability to get up in people’s faces because we know we’ve got him at the rim, or our ability to switch a lot of things because he can guard 1-through-5.” Offensively, it just draws more attention away from me, [Russell Westbrook], [Carmelo Anthony], and [Malik Monk]. Because he’s such a dynamic player, he’s off everyone.”

Despite LeBron’s outstanding performance, the Lakers went 7-10 without Davis. The eight-time All-Star has a significant effect on both sides of the court, and LeBron urgently wanted him back after Russell Westbrook proved to be a terrible fit in Los Angeles owing to his lack of shooting abilities and proclivity for turnovers.

Davis is one of the finest players in the NBA, so he’d have like to score more than eight points in his homecoming. The former champion, on the other hand, will play much better once he regains his rhythm and gets his legs under him.

“For the most part, I felt OK,” Anthony Davis said upon his return.

The Lakers’ victory against the Nets was largely due to LeBron James. In 34 minutes, the King had 33 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while shooting 14 of 21 overall and 2-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Davis’ return, on the other hand, was a huge boost for a team that had been underperforming all season.

“For the most part, I felt fine, great out there, and the adrenaline took over for the first couple minutes, and then the wind caught up to me,” Davis said. “I was OK for the remainder of the game after I got my second wind.” I’m not sure about the minute restriction; I think it would be too restrictive for me. I’m thinking about telling [coach Vogel] that I don’t need it, but we’ll see.”

On January 27, the Los Angeles Lakers will face the Philadelphia 76ers. Davis will face Joel Embiid, an MVP contender who has averaged 28.7 points and 10.7 rebounds this season. LeBron has scored at least 25 points in each of his last 18 games, so he should have a good game against the Sixers.

Los Angeles, on the other hand, will not be able to defeat Philadelphia unless Davis turns back the clock.

The Lakers, led by LeBron James, need the old AD.

With the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis has career averages of 23.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.3 blocks. He ranks third in NBA history in career player efficiency rating behind Michael Jordan and LeBron James, and he helped Los Angeles win the 2020 championship over the Miami Heat in the Walt Disney World bubble.

LeBron James is 37 years old and in his 19th season. While it’s been entertaining to watch LBJ annihilate opponents every night this season, the Lakers need Davis (28) to be their greatest player if they want to win another championship. The Brow has to get back on track with his jump shooting and terrorize opposing centers in the paint. Davis is shooting just 17.9% from outside the arc this season, and he wasn’t a dominating force in the middle before he injured his knee.

In the first round of the 2021 playoffs, the Lakers were defeated by the Phoenix Suns. It was the first time in LeBron’s career that he didn’t make it beyond the first round, so he’ll be fired up to make a long playoff run this year. Davis will only be able to do so if he regains his superstar form.
