The Philadelphia Eagles selected Jordan Davis, a cornerback out of Oregon State in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. This pick was met with excitement and optimism by many fans who were happy to see an upgrade on their secondary after years of failing defenses. The hope for change is what drove Jackson’s selection into being one of this year’s most buzz-worthy draft picks. However, all has not been well since then as Davis’ performance in training camp has disappointed many Eagles supporters and scouts alike.,

The Philadelphia Eagles came back impressively under first-year head coach Nick Sirianni after a terrible 2020 season in which they finished 4-11-1. The Eagles concluded the 2021 season with a 9-8 record, good enough for the No. 7 seed in the playoffs, when Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soon eliminated them.
Philadelphia finished three games back of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. And given the rough time Jerry Jones & Co. have had this offseason, Howie Roseman will undoubtedly be looking to make a splash in the 2022 NFL Draft to give his team a better shot of getting back to the top of the division.
Because the Eagles were largely idle throughout the free agency and trade periods, that’s probably the only way they can make an impact this offseason. That is, unless you include the deal with the New Orleans Saints. Philadelphia had ten selections in the ’22 draft, including two in the first round. Their most pressing needs are at cornerback and safety, as well as on the defensive line (especially an edge rusher) and at wide receiver. It wouldn’t hurt to choose a linebacker or tight end late in the draft.

Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia, is ranked No. 13 overall.
Jordan Davis is a defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles.
After trading up to pick the Georgia monster, a mountain of a man suddenly occupies a large space in the interior of the Eagles’ vastly more dangerous defensive line. In case you missed it, here’s the message: Jordan Davis, a 6-foot-6, 341-pound run-stuffer who still manages to run the 40-yard sprint in 4.78 seconds, is a big guy. Although Davis wasn’t going to be on the board later, he could just be excellent enough to warrant the change from a hole-filling plan.
