Sean McVay is on the cusp of breaking an impressive Bill Belichick record but has to run through an old friend to do so. The Rams head coach has already surpassed Belichick’s win total for his first three years as a head coach, and he could eclipse it by the end of this season.
The bill belichick record is the longest consecutive game-winning streak in NFL history. Sean McVay, head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, is on the cusp of breaking it. He will have to run through his old friend Bill Belichick, who has held the record for over two decades.
Believe it or not, Week 7 of the NFL season is already here. The Matthew Stafford-Jared Goff Bowl pits the Los Angeles Rams against the Detroit Lions, and it’s one of the more interesting matchups of the weekend. As Goff returns to Los Angeles and faces the club he led to the Super Bowl just five years ago, there will be plenty of storylines to follow.
With Stafford at the helm, Rams head coach Sean McVay has transformed his club into one of the best in the league. The Rams are one of the NFC’s Super Bowl favorites, having only lost once all season, to the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals.
However, as much as McVay adores Stafford as his gunslinger, he’ll have to depend on Goff to break Bill Belichick’s record.

Yes, the young, flourishing head coach is closing up on the great Belichick’s record. Since the turn of the century, the New England Patriots’ head coach has been the finest in the business.
McVay’s teams are now 41-0 when leading at halftime. Belichick has the current record, having gone 42-0 when his side was leading at halftime (h/t Skyler Carlin of Rams Wire).
It, yes, McVay is on the verge of matching Belichick’s record, and he has a strong chance of doing so against the winless Lions, particularly at SoFi Stadium.
The Rams have been on fire of late, with Cooper Kupp destroying rival defenses week after week and Robert Woods blossoming, so the chances of McVay matching this record are strong, and it will be a game to watch.
McVay may get one final favor from Jared Goff by assisting him in setting the record.
On Sunday, Jared Goff will return to his former club, the Rams, for a battle.

Since being traded to the Lions in the offseason, Goff has struggled to find success. There are a number of reasons why the Lions have yet to win a game this season, and Goff is one of them.
He’s passed for 1505 yards and seven touchdowns while also throwing four interceptions. The offense has struggled in general, and Goff’s wide receiver choices have been limited. In any case, this is why the Rams chose to replace Goff with Stafford as the starting quarterback.
Throughout their time together, Goff and McVay’s relationship had its ups and downs. Still, McVay can only hope that Goff’s troubles continue on Sunday as he attempts to match Belichick’s illustrious record.
In terms of statistics, Goff has yet to win a game without McVay as his head coach, which is a bizarre statistic in and of itself.
The Rams are in a great position to shatter this record.
The Lions provide a great chance for McVay and the Rams to equal the record. Furthermore, they play the one-win Houston Texans the next week, who have likewise been a complete catastrophe.
Although you never know until you play the games, the Rams should have no trouble with any of these clubs. Detroit and Houston are fighting it out for the weakest club in the league and a top-5 selection.
Los Angeles is on the other end of the spectrum, battling for first place in the NFC West with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals clinging to their unbeaten record for dear life.
So, sure, with Goff’s assistance, McVay should tie and break this record, and then whomever is playing quarterback for the Texans at the end of October should do the same. Nonetheless, year after year, the youthful McVay continues to surprise everyone with his outstanding coaching.
