The NBA and its players celebrated the league’s 75th anniversary on Wednesday night, with a glitzy show in New York City that included appearances by legends like Michael Jordan. But one person who wasn’t there was Dennis Rodman, who has caused many controversies while representing the Chicago Bulls throughout his career—most notably during their 1997 championship season when he infamously hung out with members of North Korea at the time.

Dennis Rodman was a guest of honor at the NBA 75th anniversary celebration. However, he did not attend for long as Shaquille O’Neal ripped into his behavior. Read more in detail here: where is dennis rodman now.

Shaquille O'Neal Rips Dennis Rodman's Behavior at NBA 75 Celebration

The NBA 75 celebration during All-Star Weekend in Cleveland brought together basketball luminaries from the past and present to reminisce and celebrate the game’s continuous development. Dennis Rodman, according to Shaquille O’Neal, should have approached the occasion with greater seriousness.

Throughout the proceedings, the Diesel shown a tremendous lot of humility, thanking everyone who assisted him along the way to the Hall of Fame and exhibiting vulnerability on many times. Rodman, on the other hand, felt compelled to maintain his unconventional identity and otherness.

Rodman’s actions, according to O’Neal, demonstrated a complete lack of context awareness.

Dennis Rodman and Shaquille O’Neal were both named to the NBA 75 Team.

For the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, O’Neal and Rodman were obvious candidates.

Shaq is perhaps the league’s most dominating force, and he feels he could be just as successful in this age. He’s a former MVP, four-time champion, and three-time Finals MVP who had as big of an influence on the culture as he did on the center position.

Rodman was less flamboyant in every way. He didn’t need to score to make an impact, imposing himself on the defensive end of the court with his amazing rebounding abilities and tormenting everyone.

Both guys had a knack for spewing trash and getting under the skin of their opponents. The Diesel has a reputation for being a troublemaker, whereas Rodzilla has long been known for his strange intricacies and unconventional lifestyle.

Shaq, on the other hand, recognized how much he enjoys messing about, but he also expressed a feeling of knowing when and where he is. O’Neal wishes Rodman had realized this.

Rodman was chastised by O’Neal for his actions at the NBA 75 celebration.

Dennis Rodman’s behavior during All-Star Weekend irritated Shaquille O’Neal.

Rodman wore a different jacket to the NBA 75 festivities than the one the league gave to players named to the 75th Anniversary Team. He also uncomfortably posed with Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Ray Allen, Stephen Curry, and Dwyane Wade for a portrait that was obviously aimed at the younger players.

During a recent episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, O’Neal expressed his displeasure with Rodman’s behavior. He said (through Fadeaway World) that he would never represent his family in such a boisterous way.

“That is not permitted by my mum.” Dr. Lucille O’Neal is my client. I am not a representative for myself. I stand in for my mother and the other ladies in my life, Taahirah, Amirah, and Me’arah. I’m going to be ridiculous and do my thing. When it comes to professionalism, though, I will always be professional.”

Dennis Rodman, according to Shaquille O’Neal

This isn’t the first time Shaq has clashed with Dennis the Menace.

During his short stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rodman had a problem with Shaquille O’Neal’s friendship with Kobe Bryant. That happened only a few years after The Big Aristotle almost instigated a riot during a game against the Chicago Bulls in December 1996, in which Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen dragged Rodman to the ground.

It’s hardly unexpected that Shaq was irritated by Rodman’s antics during All-Star Weekend. But that was all perfectly in character for The Worm.

What else could Shaq have hoped for?

Although some of Shaq’s NBA 75 teammates may share Shaq’s sentiments, it’s unusual for O’Neal or anybody else to anticipate anything different from Rodman.

The Worm has always been a defiant character. According to popular belief, he was destined to play a Hollywood type. After all, this is the same man that went on a Las Vegas binge in the midst of the 1997-98 season and paraded with WCW during the NBA Finals the following year.

O’Neal is free to whine all he likes. Rodman was never going to be anything other than himself. It’s not like it tainted the festivities in the first place.

‘Other than that, they’re ready to go,’ Dennis Rodman said of Dirk Nowitzki and the whole Mavericks organization during his ill-fated run in Dallas.
