Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton posted a cryptic tweet Wednesday morning, fueling speculation that the 27-year-old is on his way out of Indianapolis and could become a free agent in 2019. Hilton said he’s “feeling like it will happen soon,” but also noted there were other options available to him if that doesn’t pan out, including playing for an NFC team or signing with another NFL club as an unrestricted free agent next year.).

Following multiple offseason acquisitions that might drive them into AFC contention, the Indianapolis Colts have a lot of new faces. An ancient visage, on the other hand, may or may not be returning: Hilton, T.Y.

Hilton, a free agent, has had a fantastic NFL career as a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, and it looks he intends to keep playing in 2022 after pondering retirement. Will he remain in Indianapolis or leave? That’s the million-dollar question, and the four-time Pro Bowler just added fuel to the fire with a mysterious tweet.

In the midst of his uncertain free agency, T.Y. Hilton sent out a cryptic tweet.

T.Y. Hilton has indicated a desire to remain in Indianapolis, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard has left the door open for a possible return. He also retweeted photographs of himself working out with a Colts headband and a Darius Leonard t-shirt only last month.

However, no new agreement has been reached.

Following the team’s stellar NFL draft, a Colts fan account tweeted a post about how it was time to bring Hilton back so he could join a receiver room with Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell, and 2022 second-round pick Alec Pierce. In response, Hilton said, “Hummmm. Let me think about it.”

And on May 9, someone asked whether the Colts would release their schedule or Hilton would re-sign first, and the pass-catcher said, “I got u. The schedule.”

A day later, Hilton then posted a cryptic message that may have been about his contract situation, or it could have been about something completely different.

He wrote, “Patience is [important].”

Is T.Y. patient with the Colts, or is he waiting for the right opportunity regardless of the team cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval cheval Maybe he’s simply trying to be patient with something completely unrelated.

Whatever the motivation for his post, bringing the Florida International product back to the Colts would offer them with leadership and someone who can still perform at a high level.

T.Y. Hilton is still a viable option for the Colts.

Hilton has yet to re-sign with the Colts, the only club for whom he has ever played since being drafted by them in the 2012 NFL Draft. Perhaps it’s a financial problem. He no longer deserves the kind of money he earned as the NFL’s top receiver in 2016, but he’s still skilled enough to be compensated well.

With quarterback Philip Rivers, Hilton led the Colts in receiving in 2020. However, injuries restricted him to just 10 appearances in 2021, and his stats plummeted. Carson Wentz, on the other hand, had a significant impact in his declining numbers. With Wentz at quarterback, Zach Pascal, Nyheim Hines, and Mo Alie-Cox all took a step back in performance.

Last season, Hilton showed flashes of his explosiveness, catching four receptions for 80 yards against the Houston Texans in Week 6. Wentz just did not allow any of Indianapolis’ receivers (apart from Michael Pittman Jr.) to reach their full potential.

Perhaps that will change now that Matt Ryan is starting as quarterback for Indianapolis.

T.Y. Hilton isn’t the same athlete he was when he was with the Colts. He is, nonetheless, a good player. In 2022, he’d be a huge assist to a youthful wide receiver room and offer Ryan another option in the passing game.

The Colts should bring the club legend back to Indianapolis next season if they can acquire him for a reasonable price.

Carson Wentz’s fate was likely sealed before his Week 18 collapse, according to the Indianapolis Colts.
