When he was a student at the University of Georgia, Reed asked his sister Justine out. Later that night, he texted her to make sure she was home, but she didn’t answer. Reid still wanted to make sure she was okay, so he sent Justine a message on Facebook to confirm that she had come home. Much to the chagrin of the nine-time Tour winner, she confirmed that her sister is doing well, but that there will be no second date. In 2012, before Reed even had his PGA Tour card, his then-fiancee drove him to several Monday qualifiers across the country as he pursued his professional golf dream. In fact, she has been a support to him from the beginning. Patrick talked about those early days and the support Justine gave him in a recent interview with Max Adler of Golf Digest. They were tough, Reid admitted. We were road warriors and drove Justin’s Lexus IS 250 sedan across the country, just like the old days, to get to qualifying on Monday. I had bats and other clothes. She had a bag full of makeup, a bag full of hair products, 50 pairs of shoes….. Funny that she tried to adjust the seat to sleep in while she drove all night so I could play golf. On Monday of that year, on the PGA Tour, we went 6 for 8. The fact that she put her dreams aside to support me is something I will never forget. One day I hope to be half like her.

Justine has remained by Patrick’s side throughout his first two years of regular play on the PGA Tour, and was even by his side during his first career victory at the 2013 Wyndham Championship. Patrick eventually traded Justine for her brother, Kessler Karain, when she first got pregnant in 2014. His brother-in-law has been his caddie ever since.

Kris came to visit, we had a date, and I texted her to confirm she was home. No answer, Reid said. So I contacted Justine on Facebook, who confirmed that her sister was back and honestly explained why it probably wouldn’t work. So I began communicating with Justine, whom I discovered to be an incredibly motivated person who was getting a double degree while working as a nurse.
