The Dallas Mavericks are in a prime position to make a move for Kyrie Irving, who is coming off of an injury-plagued season with the Celtics. The Boston guard promises to be one of the best players on the market this summer, and could significantly alter their course as they look to return back into contention in 2021-22.

The “mavericks players” is a team that has had a lot of success in the past. They have won multiple championships, and they are currently in perfect position to make a move for Kyrie Irving and alter the course of the 2021-22 season.

The Dallas Mavericks Are In Perfect Position to Make a Move For Kyrie Irving and Alter the Course of the 2021-22 Season

There’s a lot of talk around the NBA trade deadline in 2022, but the Dallas Mavericks are only mentioned in passing. They aren’t a viable option for Ben Simmons or James Harden, who have lately re-entered the spotlight.

However, there is another member of the Brooklyn Nets who might be made available if the appropriate trade opportunity arose: Kyrie Irving.

At the present, the erratic point guard is only playing in road games, which restricts his worth to his current team. Who doesn’t detract from his worth to NBA teams that aren’t afraid to make big-money agreements and are determined to win a championship.

Mark Cuban’s Mavs, for example.

Dallas is on a roll in the middle of the season.

The Mavericks dropped to 16-18 on the season after a Dec. 29 defeat to the Sacramento Kings (speaking of trade deadline drama).

However, two nights later, a victory against the same club started a six-game winning run. Dallas went on a four-game winning streak after losing at Madison Square Garden.

The Mavs have gone from competing for a play-in position to perhaps hosting a playoff series since New Year’s Eve. Dallas is presently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, but they are just two games behind the fourth-place Utah Jazz.

During that time, Luka Doncic and his teammates had the league’s second-best record.

Surprisingly, the Mavericks’ defense has been the team’s driving force this season. Despite Doncic’s 25 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists per game, the club ranks 26th in scoring while ranking third in points allowed.

Since his arrival in the NBA, Luka has been in desperate need of a second star. Kristaps Porzingis was supposed to be the one. That hasn’t worked thus far.

It’s past time for a change.

The ideal storm is developing for Kyrie Irving to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks.

There is now a trail of NBA clues leading to the conclusion of the mystery surrounding the Nets and Mavericks, as well as Kyrie and Luka:

  • Irving is a part-time player with the Nets.
  • According to Bleacher Report, James Harden has expressed his desire to leave the Nets, in part due to his dissatisfaction with Kyrie’s part-time play.
  • Kevin Durant is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks due to a left knee injury.
  • In the Eastern Conference standings, Brooklyn has dropped from first to fourth (for now).
  • Since the arrival of Steve Nash’s Big Three, his team has lacked a real rim protector.
  • Dallas has been linked to Myles Turner, Domantas Sabonis, Simmons, Caris LeVert, Jerami Grant, and pretty much everyone else who is available.
  • Despite boasting generational offensive skill, the Mavericks have struggled to score points, but they have a top-three defense.
  • Vaccines are not required in Dallas.

This has a logical conclusion that we don’t require Sherlock Holmes to figure out:

Dallas Mavericks receive: Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets receive: Kristpas Porzingis

A one-for-one offer is effective. There’s a decent chance that members of the Brooklyn organization are sick of seeing Kyrie. His part-time play isn’t the only thing that’s ruffling feathers.

Furthermore, in Texas, there is no prospect of a vaccination requirement.

Dallas would almost certainly be interested in acquiring a 7-foot-3 center with a history of foot issues.

The Nets get their rim protector and floor spacer to place around Harden and KD, while the Mavs acquire the ideal backcourt partner in Luka.

Kyrie could be able to help Luka move beyond the first round of the playoffs for the first time.

The roster in Dallas has become stale. Over the last several seasons, it’s been a mix of Doncic, Porzingis, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr. (currently sidelined), Dwight Powell, and Maxi Kleber.

Luka has made the playoffs twice, with both first-round exits.

Irving is a proven clutch scorer with playoff experience, despite his shortcomings. He, like Doncic, is possibly the most imaginative offensive player in the NBA when he’s at his best.

“I just looked at him and said, ‘You’re the point guard, and I’m going to play shooting guard,’” Kyrie stated in a February 2021 report on NBC Sports. “I just looked at him and said, ‘You’re the point guard, and I’m going to play shooting guard.” That was all there was to it.”

For someone with the 22-year-old Slovenian’s skill level, Irving is the ideal backcourt teammate. He’s at ease off the ball, but he’s not afraid to take over the attack when necessary.

Doncic is a natural playmaker and facilitator with the ball in his hands. Kyrie once won a championship with one of those players in Cleveland.

It’s the most important deal that may happen at the deadline, and perhaps the most sensible one that no one is discussing.

And boy, would that be entertaining to see.
