The Oakland Raiders had the best draft of 2021, and they proved it by hitting a game-winning field goal in Week 2. The rest of the NFL was not happy with the win, but Raider fans were ecstatic about their kicker.
The bengals kicker draft is a story about the Cincinnati Bengals drafting a kicker in 2021. This is the only NFL team to do so, and they are throwing shade at the rest of the league after their rookie kicker hit a game-winning field goal.
In the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals were the only club to choose a kicker. While this may have looked like a little piece of information at the time, it became a major storyline in Week 1 of the NFL season. The Bengals’ big-legged rookie played a key part in the team’s first game, a 27-24 overtime victory against the Minnesota Vikings. After the final whistle sounded, the Bengals used social media to inform the rest of the NFL of their major draft day move.
The Cincinnati Bengals had a successful NFL Draft in 2021.
In the NFL Draft of 2021, the Cincinnati Bengals selected ten players. The club retained all 10 players in some form as a fledgling squad attempting to create a team from the NFL’s depths.
With a knee and a pectoral injury, respectively, third-round edge rusher Joseph Ossai and seventh-round defensive end Wyatt Hubert are out. Hubert is able to return in six weeks, but Ossai is done for the season.
Both defensive lineman Tyler Shelvin and offensive tackle D’Antee Smith, two of the Bengals’ three fourth-round picks, made the roster but didn’t play on Sunday.
Trey Hill, a sixth-round center, and Jackson Carman, a second-round guard, both dressed but did not play. Chris Evans, a sixth-round running back, made his NFL debut on special teams. Cameron Sample, a fourth-round edge rusher, was cycled in on the line. He just played 25 defensive snaps and had no effect.
During the Bengals’ improbable overtime victory against the Vikings, two rookies made the difference.
LSU wide receiver Ja’Marrr Chase, the No. 5 overall selection in the NFL, struggled with drops in the preseason but made up for it in Week 1. The dynamic playmaker caught five passes for 101 yards on seven targets, including a 50-yard touchdown reception just before halftime.
Evan McPherson was the other Cincy hero. In 2021, the former Florida Gator placekicker was the lone kicker chosen. McPherson went 3-of-3 on extra points and nailed a 53-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter against Minnesota. In overtime, he also kicked the game-winning 34-yard field goal.
The Bengals were pleased with their selection of a kicker in the draft, and they announced it on social media.
After the team’s thrilling victory, the Bengals’ Twitter account went crazy.
The Bengals had every right to be thrilled following an upset victory against the Vikings, especially after a 4-11 season in which their franchise quarterback was lost for the season due to a knee injury. The NFC North team was a three-point favorite and had every right to win.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals, on the other hand, stunned the Vikings by jumping out to a 21-7 lead in the third quarter. Kirk Cousins and company eventually knotted the game on a last-second field goal, but the Bengals eventually won after a lengthy, back-and-forth overtime session.
Bengals fans were ecstatic as McPherson’s kick went through the uprights.
The social media account kicked off the party with a raunchy play on words, “BIG KICK ENERGY!” WINNER: @McPherson Evan.”
The account then went on to brag to the rest of the league about how they had the foresight to select a kicker in 2021. “THAT’S WHY YOU DRAFT A KICKER,” read the next tweet.
Although the tweets were enthusiastic, the group may have made a valid point in their enthusiasm. A dependable kicker is more important than ever in 2021.

NFL kickers were 98 percent or better on extra points from 1994 through 2014. The point after was relocated from the two-yard line to the 15-yard line in 2015. Extra point rates fell to 94.2 percent in the 2015 season as a result of this.
In the six seasons afterwards, the rate has remained between 93 and 94 percent. The success rate for kickers on point-after-tries was just 93.0 percent last season, the lowest since 1979.
In recent years, field goals have been pretty constant, but the 81.6 percent in 2019 was a significant anomaly and the lowest percentage in a decade.
According to Action Network, almost a quarter of all NFL games (22.7 percent) came down to a field goal or less from 2003 through 2020. The frequency of tight games has increased since 2015. (23.35 percent ).
The point is that being a kicker in the NFL has never been more difficult or essential. If you have a good one on your squad, you may take him for granted. If you haven’t experienced the agony and anguish that a poor kicker can give a club and its fans, you aren’t alone.
The Cincinnati Bengals seem to recognize the importance of this in today’s NFL, and they wanted everyone to know it following McPherson’s huge kick.
