The Brooklyn Nets received a lot of praise after trading Brook Lopez to the Charlotte Hornets. The hope is that they will now be able to make it back into contention in the Eastern Conference.

The “brook lopez trade to bucks” is a headline that has been trending on the internet. The return of Brook Lopez to the Nets has given fans hope for their future.

Title Hopes Get Massive Boost with Return of Brook Lopez

Despite losing their defensive anchor in the middle, the Milwaukee Bucks have remained one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks, though, are now officially ready to defend their NBA championship, with Brook Lopez slated to return on Monday.

Lopez has only missed one game so far this season. His absence seemed to be jeopardizing Milwaukee’s hopes of completing a back-to-back. Instead, his speedy return might instill greater confidence in his Bucks defense moving into the playoffs, which is a worrying proposition for other Eastern Conference teams.

On Monday, Brook Lopez returns to the Bucks.

Sources at ESPN: Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez will play against the Utah Jazz on Monday, three months after undergoing back surgery (ESPN, 10 PM ET). Lopez, who hasn’t played since opening night, could have an impact for the first time under Mike Budenholzer on a defense that isn’t in the top ten.

The Bucks (42-26) are just 2.5 games behind the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference’s top spot. With a completely healthy roster, they might make a last push.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Lopez is set to make his return to Milwaukee’s rotation after about three months on the shelf. The 33-year-old underwent back surgery in December, which appears to have remedied the chronic pain that beset him earlier in the season.

In a league dominated mostly by guards and wings, a senior center may not seem to be an incredibly influential asset to the casual NBA spectator. The Bucks, on the other hand, have long recognized Lopez’s worth.

With the Bucks struggling out of the start, Giannis Antetokounmpo asked Lopez to return in November. His dream has finally been realized after more than four months.

Lopez has a huge effect on the defense of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Antetokounmpo is a past Defensive Player of the Year with the Bucks. Jrue Holiday is one of the league’s greatest perimeter defenders. On the other hand, Milwaukee has struggled on that end of the floor.

The defensive rating of head coach Mike Budenholzer’s club is 15th. After leading the NBA in defensive rating during the 2019-20 season, the Bucks have regressed in that statistic for the second straight season.

In the past month, things have become extremely bad. Since February 14, Milwaukee has ranked 21st in defensive rating, according to NBA.com. The Bucks don’t give up many points in the paint, but their pick-and-roll defense isn’t as good, and their rotations aren’t as tight.

Lopez has the potential to make a difference in this situation.

Because of his great rim protection and weak-side talents, the 2019-20 All-Defensive Second Team member frees up a lot of space on defense. Giannis can take more chances and be at his best flying all over the court and affecting everything with his length with Lopez in a more traditional 5-man position. Antetokounmpo doesn’t have to worry about defending the paint or cleaning the boards for the Bucks.

Lopez also provides the Bucks with extra depth and a big capable of extending the floor in screen-and-roll situations. He’s just as valuable offensively as he is defensively.

Lopez’s inner toughness, on the other hand, should make all the difference for a Milwaukee team in desperate need of such qualities.

Beasts of the East, perhaps?

Could the Bucks and Suns meet in the NBA Finals for the second year in a row? Though Milwaukee confronts a stacked Eastern Conference, it’s a distinct possibility.

The Miami Heat are as well-balanced as any NBA club. The Philadelphia 76ers, led by Joel Embiid and James Harden, are clearly eager to cash in on championship hopes. With Alex Caruso back in the lineup, the Chicago Bulls might go on a tear.

The Bucks, on the other hand, are almost unstoppable on offense because to their inside domination and perimeter efficiency. They have plenty of opportunities to create shots and make it to the charity stripe.

Milwaukee might have the missing piece it needs to win another Larry O’Brien Trophy now that Brook Lopez has returned to the fold.
