The Spurs have been a dominant force in the NBA for decades, but their recent performance has fans scratching their heads. With Kawhi Leonard’s current situation and LaMarcus Aldridge not fitting in well with his new team, it seems like the rest of San Antonio is ready to pack up shop and go home.

“How to get away from everything and everyone” is a blog post written by someone who has been through a lot of tough times. The author talks about how they found solace in their own company, and the things that helped them to get away from everything else.

'You Need to Get Away'

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, both NBA Hall of Famers, used to be great friends. Despite their rivalry on the basketball court, the superstars always made an effort to socialize with one another in their spare time.

Despite the fact that Barkley was not as talented as Jordan in golf, Jordan and Barkley enjoyed playing it together. When Barkley’s Houston Rockets lost a playoff series, Jordan contacted him in the middle of the night and instructed him to get his golf stuff packed because he knew his pal wanted to “go away.”

After a playoff series defeat, Michael Jordan took Charles Barkley golfing.

Jordan once picked Barkley up on his private aircraft for a golf excursion following a playoff series defeat, Barkley told Subpar in May 2020. Chuck received a call from the Chicago Bulls legend at three or four a.m., telling him he needed to be ready in four hours.

“One time I lost, I was playing for the Rockets, and Michael phones me at three or four a.m., ‘Whatchu doin’?’ ‘Nothing,’ I replied. I’m sulking right now. Last night, we were defeated.’ ‘I’ll pick you up in four hours,’ he said. ‘What?’ I exclaimed. ‘I’m coming to get you,’ he says. We’re going to go golfing. The season has come to an end. ‘You’ve got to get out of here.’ And he brought me up on his own plane in four hours from the private airfield near my residence.”

Jordan saw Barkley’s low attitude and went out of his way to cheer him up by picking him up on his private jet and bringing him golfing. That was how close MJ and Sir Charles used to be.

Everything changed, however, when Barkley chastised Jordan for the way he operated the Charlotte Bobcats, a six-time Finals MVP (they switched to the Charlotte Hornets in 2014).

Why aren’t Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley buddies anymore?

Jordan was chastised by Barkley, an NBA pundit on TNT, for employing the wrong people in Charlotte. Black Jesus would never be successful as the franchise’s majority governor, according to the one-time MVP, if he hired “kiss a**” pals.

In March 2010, Jordan was elected majority governor of the Charlotte franchise. During his illustrious career with the Bulls, the NBA’s all-time leader in points per game and player efficiency rating never missed the playoffs. Under Jordan, though, Charlotte has only reached the playoffs twice.

Barkley wishes he could be buddies with Jordan again. He does, however, have a job involving TNT. Jordan takes things personally, as the world discovered from ESPN’s The Last Dance docuseries, but it’s odd that he still has a vendetta against Barkley, with whom he used to be siblings.

Despite the fact that Jordan and Barkley are no longer friends, the Round Mound of Rebound was interviewed for The Last Dance. He discussed the 1993 Finals between the Bulls and the Phoenix Suns in Episode 6.

“I have no problem losing to Michael,” says the Chuckster.

In the 1993 Finals, Barkley and the Suns held home court advantage. The Suns had the best record in the NBA, and the Alabama native earned the regular-season MVP. Phoenix, on the other hand, lost all three of its home games.

Jordan and the Bulls came out on top in a six-game series. Captain Marvel earned his third consecutive Finals MVP award, averaging 41.0 points on 50.8 percent shooting from the field and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc. In The Last Dance, Barkley, who averaged 27.3 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, declared he didn’t mind losing to the Bulls since they had the greatest player in the world.

“I don’t mind losing to Michael,” Barkley said. “There’s no shame in losing against Michael. Sports are similar to gunfights, and we were defeated by the quickest gun.”

Jordan won six championships, six Finals MVPs, five regular-season MVPs, and ten scoring crowns throughout his career. Meanwhile, Barkley was named to 11 All-Star teams and earned one MVP award. He’s regarded as one of the best players in NBA history who has never won a championship, and you can bet Jordan tormented him about it while they were friends.
